Red Light Cameras

This Blog will educate the ones of you who wish to know the truth.
There are a multitude of independent studies which show that the cameras have absolutely no effect on changing driver behavior.
A recent study shows that 85% of infractions were within one tenth (0.1) of a second after the light turns red. This is the dilemma zone and we all have been there. By contrast, the normal duration of an eye blink is three to four tenths ( 0.3-0.4) of a second. So as you can see, a $351 fine is given for an infraction of one third the time it takes an eye to blink.

Pandora's Box.
A 4 lb. camera cannot and will not stop a 4000 lb. vehicle.
A red-light camera can not and will never prevent drivers from purposely running a red light. However, 85% of the fines will be given to those that unintentionally run a red light by less time than an eye blink.

Because cameras can't lie(so we're told), a red-light camera is accuser, judge, and jury; a guilty verdict with no due process of law . A red-light cameras primary purpose is to generate revenue.

Exceeding the posted speed limit by 1 mile an hour is breaking the law. Imagine the revenue that can and will probably be gained by $300+ fines for breaking that law. By the way, speeding and parking cameras are also in use, and coming to your city soon.
What? No turn signal given? That'll be $351 please. The difference between a full stop and a pause, and a rolling stop is... oops, let me check my stop watch. Depending on your location, right and left turns are monitored very close. The profits are exceedingly large.

Expect cameras to generate fines for any other thing that some law can be passed without public knowledge or vote. Pretty slick deal, huh. And you want to know the best part? The city is out ... nothing, nada, zip, zero. Not time or even the cost of one employee. It's pure profit. Social Security if you will, for the government but not for you. Sound familiar?

You can bet all of these things will be done in the name of safety, but don't kid yourself, no city is interested solely in it's citizens welfare. The driving force of it's political agenda, is $$$$.

Inside the District's Red Lights by Matt Labash - Part 1: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/001/078ftoqz.asp
Red-light cameras are all over--and coming to a city near you. The science behind them is bad and the police are using them to make money, not save lives. It's much worse than you thought.

Part 2: The police could make intersections safer with longer yellow lights. But the city wouldn't make any money that way.

Part 3: Photo-radar cameras are designed to catch speeders and save lives. Only, there's not much evidence that the speed limit is any safer.

Part 4: Red-light cameras actually cause an increase in rear-end accidents. The pro-camera forces know this and are trying to keep you from seeing the data.

If you want to know more check out the below websites and actually research what you are defending. We all hate runners, but the cameras are NOT THE ANSWER.
